It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Andrzej Trojanowski, a man who devoted his life to Gdańsk.
A sportsman and journalist, he was associated with Radio Gdańsk for 20 years, serving as its president and editor-in-chief for more than 9 years from the end of 1993. In 2005 he became Director of the Office of the Mayor of Gdańsk, later also Director of the Mayor of Gdańsk's Office for Sport. He was the originator of the winning bid for Gdańsk to co-host the UEFA European Football Championship 2012.
Andrzej Trojanowski was associated for more than half a century, in various roles, with St Dominic's Fair, organised for years by Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie. Encouraged by his father, he started out as a halberdier, and in later years he officially opened and closed the Fair as herald. Later, he found his place at the Fair as a journalist and member of the fair committee. We look back at an interview with Mr Andrzej, in which he shared his memories of the Fair with us.
