Piecki-Migowo rink returns, Świętokrzyska rink Loop Łostowice begins again
On Saturday, March 23, the marketplace in the Piecki-Migowo district will resume operations. The project, initiated last September, was very successful, hence the decision to continue it. What’s more, a similar market will also appear in an additional location in the Orunia Górna-Gdansk Południe district. The joint initiative of the City of Gdansk and the Gdansk International Fair is intended to enable as many Gdansk residents as possible to buy fresh fruits and vegetables and products from local and regional farmers.
Stalls with products from local farms will stand in the square at the intersection of Bulonska Street and Rakoczego Street, as well as in the parking lot of the Łostowice Świętokrzyska bus and streetcar terminus near the ZTM Customer Service Point. They will operate every Saturday from March 23 to June 29 and from August 31 to October 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Piecki-Migowo market will be accompanied by a Flea Market, organized by the Piecki-Migowo District Council and enjoying great popularity. The organizers already invite everyone – from children to seniors – to participate in this event.
– District markets are not only a place where residents can conveniently buy healthy and organic products. This initiative is valuable also because it activates and integrates the local community,” stresses Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdansk. – On the other hand, it is an example of activities that perfectly fit in with the European Commission’s “From Field to Table” strategy. Implementing the idea of shortening the food supply chain, they give Gdansk residents the opportunity to buy directly from the farmer-producer, which allows them to receive fresh goods with a guarantee of quality and authenticity.
Parallel to the markets, trade in agricultural or food products and handicrafts made by farmers and their homemakers takes place at a municipally designated area on Gościnna Street in the Orunia-Saint Wojciech-Lipce district. At this location, residents can shop on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The implementation of the project would not have been possible without the support of Partners.
Porta Czystej Energii, a company that will soon launch and put into operation a municipal combined heat and power plant with energy recovery from waste; Piecki-Migowo District Council; Tenant-Ownership Housing Cooperative “Morena” and Gdańsk Południe-Orunia Górna District Council.
