District Markets 2025
The Return of the District Markets in Gdańsk – Fresh Products Straight from the Farmers
In just a few days, Gdańsk residents will once again be able to enjoy purchasing fresh produce directly from local farmers and food producers. Starting April 5th, popular neighborhood markets, which have gained great popularity in recent years among Gdańsk residents seeking high-quality food products from local farms, will return.
Where and when can we shop outdoors?
District markets will operate in two proven locations. In the Orunia Górna – Gdańsk Południe district, stalls will be set up in the parking lot of the Łostowice – Świętokrzyska bus and tram terminus, next to the ZTM Customer Service Point. Residents of Piecki – Migów will be able to shop in the square at the intersection of Bulońska and Rakoczego Streets.
Importantly, unlike last year, the Piecki – Migów market will no longer be combined with a flea market, as was previously the case.
A Wealth of Local Produce
The stands will traditionally feature fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits, eggs from local hens, and a wide range of other products. Market visitors will also be able to purchase delicatessen dishes, honey, and even locally produced meat, dairy, and fish products.
All of this comes from local farmers and producers from Gdańsk and the surrounding area, as well as from other parts of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Importantly, all vendors have been vetted by the organizers, guaranteeing the high quality of the products offered.
Regular gatherings throughout the season
The district markets will operate regularly throughout most of the year – from April 5th to November 15th. Shopping will be available every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
It’s worth noting, however, that the markets will not be open on public holidays: April 19th (Holy Saturday), May 3rd, and November 1st. Importantly, for all those who enjoy shopping directly from farmers, unlike the original plans in previous years, this time the markets will also be open throughout the summer, in response to numerous requests from residents.
An initiative supported by district councils
District Markets is an initiative aimed at enabling as many Gdańsk residents as possible to purchase fresh produce directly from local and regional farmers. The project is implemented in cooperation with the district councils. “Market Square Piecki-Migowo” is supported by the Piecki-Migowo District Council and the “Morena” Tenant-Owner Housing Cooperative, while “Market Square Łostowice Świętokrzyska Loop” is supported by the Orunia Górna – Gdańsk Południe District Council.
The Gdańsk International Fair is responsible for the technical aspects of the project, providing exhibitors with aesthetically pleasing stands, as it did last year.
Alternative Shopping Venues
For those unable to reach the markets in Piecki-Migów or Orunia Górna, there are also other options for shopping directly from farmers. Year-round, on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, agricultural and food products are sold on Gościnna Street in the Orunia-Św. Wojciech-Lipce district.
In addition, Gdańsk boasts three large, year-round markets run by associations: in Przymorze Małe, in Wrzeszcz Dolny, and on the border of Śródmieście and Rudniki, near the speedway stadium. Several times a week, trade is also organized at the market in Oliwa.
The return of neighborhood markets is excellent news for all residents who value fresh, local produce and direct contact with their producers. This initiative not only supports local farmers and producers but also contributes to the integration of local communities, creating a space for neighborhood meetings and conversations during the weekly shopping trip.
