A topping-out ceremony has taken place at the new hall of the AMBEREXPO complex. The building has taken on real shape and will shortly enter its finishing phase. It is scheduled to be put into use by 10 September 2025 – The schedule of works is tight. It's June, and already in September there's an important event, namely the TRAKO International Railway Fair. The building's current appearance is encouraging – says Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdańsk.
Construction of the new hall began at the end of 2024. At Żaglowa 11 in Gdańsk, significant progress is already visible. The final floor slab with technical ducts has been completed, along with the hall's columns and girders, sheet metal cladding, the external monolithic wall, and openings for mobile walls between the halls.
The next planned activities include continuing and carrying out all installations “under the roof” and in the hall's technical ducts, continuing work on the roof covering, carrying out the building's external façade, finishing works on wall cladding, installation of doors and gates, and installation of stairs and technical galleries.

– One might ask why we're doing all this, given that we already have three halls in the AMBEREXPO complex. It's about expanding the number of events, which is tied to Gdańsk's growing popularity. This stems from our deliberate city policy – broadly understood as the meetings industry and business tourism. This means we need a more extensive facility, capable of hosting more trade fair and congress events. Hence the construction of the new hall – adds the Mayor of Gdańsk.
The new hall is located between the current Hall C and the SKM Gdańsk Stadion Expo stop. Its floor area is 3,890 m² – similar to each of the other three halls. Like the rest of the complex, the building will serve exhibition-conference, congress, concert, theatre and critical-infrastructure functions. A new feature will be the building's adaptation for film production.
– The voivodeship is developing and will continue to develop. Few people know this, but we are the leader among voivodeships in terms of investment – including in the renewable energy sector and the ports sector. An important challenge is also linked to hosting congresses. AMBEREXPO is a beautiful facility that still needs even more space. The fourth hall will be able to host various kinds of gatherings of 1,000-1,500 people, during which discussions will be held and solutions found for various economic challenges – believes Adam Gawrylik, Deputy Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The procedure to select the general contractor for the PLN 147 million investment began in July of last year. The hall, as well as the adjoining hotel, whose construction will be completed in 2026, is being built by NDI.
– The raising of the topping-out wreath is also a celebration for the building's constructors. As a representative of the industry, I would like to thank everyone strongly involved in delivering the project, including the investor – for the substantive cooperation that allows us to achieve our goal effectively. I thank the entire supervision team, the designers and my team, who are carrying out the project. And also all subcontractors and suppliers. We arrived on site six months ago, and what can be seen now is already impressive – says Małgorzata Winiarek-Gajewska, President of the Management Board of NDI.
The new part of AMBEREXPO already has its walls in place. Finishing works related to the roof covering, among other things, are currently under way. However, these were paused, with an entry made in the construction site log, for the duration of the topping-out ceremony – at the site of the event.
– Thank you all for believing in this project. I thank the city, as well as the Marshal, for having the courage to support us. This is a very difficult undertaking, not least because of the wind, which is giving us a hard time today. In addition, we continue to operate day to day and fulfil our statutory objectives related to organising trade fairs and conferences, such as PowerConnect Energy Summit, TRAKO, BALTEXPO and AMBERIF – says Andrzej Bojanowski, President of the Management Board of Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie.
– Since December 2024, work has been progressing according to schedule – this is evident from the figures alone: 700 piles, 6,500 m³ of concrete, 11 km of cables, 180 tonnes of structural steel. Ahead of us are further stages – installation of joinery, façades, and installations in the technical ducts and under the roof. This could not have been done in such a timeframe without the use of modern technologies. It only confirms that the choice, and the cooperation with NDI, was the right one – concludes the president of MTG.
