As every year, temporary changes to traffic arrangements will be introduced in Gdańsk's City Centre. They will come into force from Monday, 24 June and will last until Sunday, 1 September. The first phase results from the summer traffic arrangements, the second, in force from 15 July, is linked to St Dominic's Fair. With minor differences, most of the changes will be similar to previous years. This year, too, the boundaries of the Limited Access Zone in the Main City will be extended over the summer. To drive within it, an IGM permit or an FGM sector parking card is required.
– The summer changes to traffic arrangements in Gdańsk's City Centre will be introduced in two stages. The first is the so-called summer phase, which will begin on 24 June. Compared to previous years, minor changes will be introduced. Then, on 15 July, the installation of St Dominic's Fair infrastructure will begin. This will require further changes to traffic arrangements – says Piotr Kryszewski, Deputy Mayor for Municipal Services.
St Dominic's Fair phase
– This year St Dominic's Fair will take place from 27 July to 18 August across around 60,000 m2. This is a large area, which we try to manage as well as possible. Listening to the voice of residents, it seems that year on year we are moving in the right direction. Following the suggestions we receive during meetings with residents of Gdańsk, as in the previous year, the fair will not be found on Długie Pobrzeże and Rybackie Pobrzeże. This area is reserved for walks and is ideal for admiring beautiful Gdańsk. Instead, as in the previous year, stalls will be located on Podwale Staromiejskie Street and Grobla IV, where we have created a new little street – Artystyczne Podwale. There will be even more new features, though well-known and well-loved elements will not be missing either. So I warmly invite you to St Dominic's Fair in Gdańsk right now – says Dorota Solochewicz, project manager of St Dominic's Fair.
The first works related to the installation of St Dominic's Fair infrastructure will be carried out on 15 July and will continue until the event begins, i.e. until 27 July. From that day until 18 August, St Dominic's Fair will run. The dismantling of the Fair's infrastructure is then planned, which will last until 25 August.
– From Monday, 15 July, we begin installing fair infrastructure in the area of Szeroka Street – says Marcin Latuszek, MTG's Director of Operations. – Next in line are Pańska, Podmłyńska and Rajska streets. On the other side of the Motława, however, works will begin the following week, i.e. from Monday, 22 July. Installation works will last until 25 July, exhibitors move in on 26 July, and the fair starts on 27 July. Our dismantling works begin immediately after the Fair ends, which concludes on 18 August, and we plan to finish them by 25 August at the latest – assures Marcin Latuszek.
During the periods when the fair infrastructure is being installed and dismantled, temporary disruptions may occur, with streets or sections of streets being closed one after another. For the purposes of the Fair, the following streets in the Old Town, Main City and the Długie Ogrody area will be closed: Szeroka, Tkacka, Kołodziejska, Pańska, Węglarska, Św. Ducha, Straganiarska, Targ Rybny, Grobla I–IV, Długie Ogrody, Szafarnia, Rajska, Wielkie Młyny, Podmłyńska, Podwale Staromiejskie (the stretch from Targ Drzewny to Pańska). Closures may apply to entire streets or only to sections of them.

Old Town
- Rajska Street closed to traffic – the stretch from Podwale Staromiejskie Street to Heweliusza Street, as well as Wielkie Młyny Street and Podmłyńska Street
- On the two-way Korzenna Street there will be no additional parking spaces on the roadway, in order to ensure smooth traffic flow and access for emergency services
- Na Piaskach Street and Katarzynki Street, at their junctions with Rajska Street, become no-through, so-called dead-end streets. In addition, Na Piaskach Street from Kowalska Street to Wielkie Młyny Street will be covered by the LAZ
- To ensure pedestrian safety, the stretch of Podwale Staromiejskie Street from Targ Drzewny Street to Pańska Street will be closed to traffic. A detour will be marked via the streets: Kowalska, Korzenna, Heweliusza to Rajska, or further to Łagiewniki and Wałowa streets. On the closed stretch of Podwale Staromiejskie Street, parking spaces for people with disabilities will be designated
- Podwale Staromiejskie, on the stretch from Lawendowa Street to its end towards Wałowa Street, will be a one-way street heading towards Wałowa Street
- Grodzka Street and Stara Stocznia Street up to the entrance of the underground car park of the Brabank building will be one-way streets heading towards Wałowa Street
- The right-hand lane of Podwale Staromiejskie Street will be allocated as parking spaces within the Paid Parking Zone (PPZ)
- Changes will also appear on Stolarska Street, which, from Refektarska Street and Mniszki Street, will become one-way towards Podwale Staromiejskie Street. One-way traffic in this direction will also be maintained on Igielnicka Street.
Main City
- entry into the Main City area, only for holders of IMG permits (for the LAZ) and FGM sector parking cards, will be possible from Targ Drzewny, only via św. Ducha Street
- Entry onto Szeroka Street from Targ Drzewny not possible
- Access to Szeroka Street via the streets św. Ducha-Latarnia-Szeroka
- Exit from Szeroka Street to Targ Drzewny via Szeroka Street
- Due to renovation works along the whole stretch of Długie Pobrzeże and Rybackie Pobrzeże streets, local disruptions to pedestrian traffic may occur
- Reversal of direction on Szklary Street and Lawendowa Street towards Podwale Staromiejskie Street
- Due to the closed stretch of Tobiasza Street, two-way traffic applies along the whole stretch of Świętojańska Street
- Entry onto streets covered by the Fair for residents holding an IGM permit (for the LAZ) and FGM sector parking cards, between 8.00 pm and 9.30/10.00 am
- Due to possible heavy pedestrian flows, especially around Targ Rybny and Skwer Świętopełka, temporary extensions to the closure of resident entry are possible – please follow security staff instructions
- As in previous years, the street loop of św. Ducha-Złotników-Szklary-Podwale Staromiejskie remains in operation
- Entry onto Targ Rybny from Podwale Staromiejskie Street closed to traffic
- On the closed stretch of Podwale Staromiejskie Street, parking spaces for people with disabilities will be designated
Długie Ogrody
- Szafarnia, from the entrance to the underground car park of the Waterlane building to the junction with Długie Ogrody Street, will be closed to motor traffic
- Długie Ogrody, on the stretch from the junction with Długa Grobla Street to the junction with Łąkowa Street, will be a one-way street heading towards Łąkowa Street.
- Długie Ogrody, on the stretch from Łąkowa to Szopy Street, will be a two-way street
- No exit will be possible from Szopy Street onto Długie Ogrody Street.
- Krowoderska, Św. Barbary and Seredyńskiego streets will be no-through roads (no entry possible from the above streets onto Długie Ogrody Street).
- Two-way traffic without restrictions remains on Łąkowa Street

Parking for residents
The car park on Targ Węglowy will be closed for the duration of the Fair, i.e. from 15 July to 25 August, for the exclusive use of Main City residents. Entry and parking will be based on a valid IGM permit and an FGM sector parking subscription and an MTG permit. Spaces will also be set aside at the car park for hotel guests from the Main City area.
For residents of Długie Ogrody Street and the surrounding area, a car park will similarly be designated in the area of Brama Żuławska. Entry and parking will be possible on the basis of an MTG permit.
Coach parking
For the needs of tourist traffic in the City Centre area, additional parking spaces for coaches will be designated (over 30 spaces). Temporary car parks will be located on the streets:
- Głęboka (from Mostek Street to Wygon Street)
- 3 Maja (parking bay by the PKS coach station)
- Wiesława
- Siennicka, from the junction with Elbląska Street to Powalna Street
- Okopowa (by the multi-storey car park)
- Podwale Przedmiejskie (at the junction with Sadowa Street)
- Targ Drzewny, between św. Ducha and Szeroka streets (up to 10 minutes)

Park&Ride service
Between 27 July and 18 August, drivers wishing to visit St Dominic's Fair will be able to leave their car at the car park on Plac Zebrań Ludowych and travel to the venue by tram. The parking fee is 15 zloty (13 zloty for holders of the Resident's Card), in which case the tram journey for up to 5 people on the Brama Oliwska – Brama Wyżynna stretch is free of charge.
Moving the boundaries of the Limited Access Zone to Podwale Staromiejskie Street and to Podwale Przedmiejskie Street
As in previous years, this year too the boundaries of the Limited Access Zone (LAZ) will be moved to Podwale Staromiejskie Street. To limit the ability of unauthorised vehicles to enter the LAZ, entry will only be possible via św. Ducha Street from the direction of Targ Drzewny, and via Targ Rybny from the direction of Podwale Staromiejskie. In addition, the summer LAZ will also cover the streets to the south of Długa Street and Długi Targ, as far as Podwale Przedmiejskie.
In addition to the existing streets, the extended LTZ will also include: Szeroka, Pańska, Węglarska, Świętojańska, Lawendowa, Straganiarska, Szklary, Słomiana, Grobla II, Grobla III, Grobla IV, Pachołów, Tobiasza, Tandeta, Różana, Szpitalna, U Furty, Targ Rybny, Warzywnicza, Tandeta, Tokarska, Minogi, Podmurze, Latarniana, as well as ul. Sukiennicza on the section from ul. Dylinki to the Radunia Canal, and the streets Ławnicza, Słodowników, Pocztowa, Za Murami and Zbytki. In addition, the LTZ will also cover the streets: Sukiennicza and Na Piaskach.
We would like to remind you that throughout the Limited Traffic Zone in the Main City (both the permanent and extended zones), the regulations governing movement within a residential area apply. These give priority to pedestrian traffic, set a maximum vehicle speed of 20 km/h, and permit parking for all vehicles only in designated spaces.
An IGM permit is required in the Limited Traffic Zone
To drive within the boundaries of the extended and permanent LTZ, an IGM permit is required. It is available to residents of properties (both owners and tenants), as well as to owners, tenants or lessees of commercial premises located within the LTZ.
"Given the very high number of people collecting 24-hour permits, limits on issuing these entry passes will be introduced during St Dominic's Fair, i.e. from 15 July," says Agata Lewandowska, the City's Traffic Engineer. "We want to reduce the influx of car users who do not live in the city centre. During this period there are no available parking spaces here, nor any possibility of moving around freely."
Eligible persons are invited to collect their free IGM permits from:
- The GZDiZ Service Point at ul. Wodopój 7, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, and on Wednesdays from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- The GZDiZ Customer Service Office at ul. Partyzantów 36, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, and on Wednesdays from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Permits for the extended Limited Traffic Zone will be issued for the period from 24 June to 1 September.

An additional permit will not be needed by:
- people holding a valid IGM permit in the permanent LTZ area.
- holders of a current Resident's Flat-Rate Fee Card or Business Flat-Rate Fee Card in the FGM sector.
Renovations within the city centre
During the summer season, renovations will be carried out in the city centre of Gdańsk at the following locations: ul. Ogarna – further stages of renovation, and Tobiasza. Any remaining works carried out in this area will have no impact on traffic organisation.
Ogarna
Works are currently under way on the section of ul. Ogarna from ul. Słodowników to ul. Pocztowa. This traffic arrangement is expected to remain in place until the end of the summer holidays.
Długie Pobrzeże
The pedestrian crossing will remain open throughout the summer holidays.
Communication with residents
In connection with the disruptions that may occur during St Dominic's Fair, an additional feature dedicated to the needs of this event will be launched in the Gdańsk Contact Centre app. A special helpline will also operate run by the Gdańsk Contact Centre, through which residents will be informed about the course of the event and changes to traffic organisation, and will be able to submit their comments. With tourists in mind, cooperation has been undertaken with hotels and establishments providing accommodation services located within the LTZ. As part of this cooperation, these establishments have committed to informing their guests about changes to traffic organisation and parking disruptions in the strict centre of the city centre.
