The aim of introducing summer traffic arrangements is to reduce through traffic, improve safety and organise traffic during the busiest period of the year.
Applications from 1 June
Residents and business owners entitled to use the zone can already from 1 June apply for free permits issued by the Gdańsk Roads Authority. Permits are available to residents of properties within the zone, as well as tenants and owners of commercial premises located there. Applications for a permit for the extended Restricted Access Zone can be submitted until the zone ceases to operate, i.e. until 30 August 2026

– We have been preparing for this for many months, and the first stage of changes shows that, thanks to good cooperation, the process is running smoothly. From 29 June we will introduce summer traffic arrangements together with the extension of the Restricted Access Zone, which is why I encourage residents to apply for permits now. Due to the roadworks, the location of events, including the St Dominic's Fair, will also change, as will the way parking is organised for residents. We urge everyone to keep a close eye on announcements and signage and to make use of solutions such as Park&Ride, which will help reduce traffic in the centre and improve movement around the city.
Park and ride at Plac Zebrań Ludowych
Due to restricted access to the city centre for car traffic, the city is encouraging residents to use public transport and the Park&Ride car park at Plac Zebrań Ludowych, which will open on 27 June. The parking ticket entitles five people to a free tram journey between the Brama Oliwska and Brama Wyżynna stops. A full day's parking for a car will cost PLN 20 with a Resident's Card and PLN 25 without a Resident's Card.
With the start of the summer season from Monday, 1 June dedicated coach parking areas have also been opened on ul. Siennicka and ul. Wiesława, ul. Okopowa
and ul. 3 Maja, as well as on Długie Ogrody.

More parking spaces for residents
At the same time, as Targ Węglowy will be used for the St Dominic's Fair, alternative parking spaces have been prepared for residents on Podwale Staromiejskie, ul. Lawendowa and ul. Rycerska. These measures are designed to improve traffic organisation in the city centre during the period of increased tourist traffic and to ensure residents have access to parking spaces despite the temporary closure of part of the city centre.
Further changes to traffic arrangements – this time linked to the organisation of the St Dominic's Fair – will come into force in mid-July. We will provide details in advance.
