St Dominic's Fair in Gdańsk is among the Top 10 coolest events in Europe taking place in 2024. The ranking, drawn up on the basis of travel experts' opinions, was published by Forbes. St Dominic's Fair shares a place in the top ten with, among others, Munich's Oktoberfest, St Patrick's Day in Dublin, the Sanfermines festival in Pamplona, and Cheese Rolling at Cooper's Hill.
This year Forbes recognised St Dominic's Fair in Gdańsk. The description of the choice highlighted the event's rich history, dating back as far as 1260, the variety of stalls, and the food zones featuring dozens of world cuisines.
"Alongside the traditional Christmas markets and Oktoberfest, it is considered one of the largest open-air cultural and trade events in Europe", reads the justification for the choice.
„People of all ages will find something for themselves at the stalls scattered across the streets of Gdańsk's Old Town, where visitors are offered entertainment including concerts, costumed performances, parades, fetes, firework displays, and numerous competitions," adds the article's author.
In the top "10" coolest events in Europe, St Dominic's Fair finds itself in distinguished company. Placed on an equal footing are events such as the aforementioned Munich Oktoberfest, as well as: St Patrick's Day in Dublin, the Sanfermines festival in Pamplona, Cheese Rolling at Cooper's Hill, the Wine Battle in Haro, the La Tomatina Festival in Buñol, the Marathon Des Châteaux Du Médoc in Gironde, King's Day in Amsterdam, and the Festival of Lights in Zagreb.
