The 16th edition of the fair POLFISH is now behind us. Over the course of 3 days at AMBEREXPO representatives of the domestic and international fish and food industries came together.
Presentations, debates, conferences, workshops and culinary shows – the halls of the exhibition and congress centre at ul. Żaglowa 11 were buzzing with activity. Exhibitors at the event included importers
and distributors of fish and seafood, and manufacturers of delicatessen products and technological equipment dedicated to the industry. In addition to domestic firms, foreign manufacturers were also present (including from Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Iceland and Israel). For the first time in the event's history, stands featuring regional products also took part, including organic cheeses, buttermilks, preserves, syrups, honeys, vinegars, wines and beer.
The fair was attended by owners, managers and supervisors of shops, restaurants, catering companies, and food service and hospitality establishments. Over the 3 days, 2,431 trade visitors were registered, with 5,272 entries.
A long-standing tradition of the fair is the Mercurius Gedanesis competition. The jury assessed products in 3 categories: fish product, food product and technology.
The Grand Prix in the fish product category was awarded to Polski Karp Sp. z o.o.from Kraków,
with 2 joint medals awarded to: Suempol Sp. z o.o. from Bielsk Podlaski, and EvraFish Sp. z o.o. from Brusy.
In the food product category, the winner was the Wielkopolska-based company Smak Tradycji Irena Olejniczak
from Ujazdów. The main award for technological solutions went to the Gdynia-based National Marine Fisheries Research Institute
and Koszalin University of Technology, with an honourable mention for PHUP CLEVRO Robert Klemba from Rawa Mazowiecka.
After a lengthy break caused by the pandemic situation, the return of the POLFISH fair proved to be eagerly awaited by industry representatives. Some exhibitors and visitors are already announcing their participation in the upcoming edition. The first news about the date of the next edition of the event will appear on the fair's website and social media.
