It is with deep sadness that we announce that on 4 March 2025, at the age of 77, Jerzy Pasiński passed away – former president of Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie, and also Mayor of Gdańsk from 1989 to 1990.
Jerzy Pasiński will be remembered as president of Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie – a role he held from 1991 to 1999. He played a key role in the development and modernisation of Gdańsk's exhibition infrastructure. It was thanks to his commitment that a number of important events were organised, such as the Air Show, the St Dominic's Fair, and Amberif – the largest jewellery fair in the region.
Jerzy Pasiński will be remembered as someone who, between 1991 and 1999, built modern foundations for the development of trade fairs in Gdańsk, combining business activity with the promotion of the city and the region. His contribution to the organisation of trade fairs, and to the development of the exhibition industry, will remain invaluable. During his tenure, among other things, a specialist exhibition hall was built on ul. Beniowskiego in 1994.
In his professional life, Jerzy Pasiński did not only hold managerial positions. From 1989 to 1990 he was Mayor of Gdańsk. He was also involved in public life, serving as president of the Gdańsk Chamber of Commerce, and later as vice-president of the Pomeranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club Gdańsk-Sopot-Gdynia.
We extend our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Jerzy Pasiński will always be remembered as someone who had an enormous influence on the development of Gdańsk and the Pomeranian region.
