From 4 to 7 September 2025, Gdańsk – known as the World Capital of Amber – will host the inaugural edition of Gdańsk Jewellery Week. An event that redefines the role of jewellery: not merely as adornment, but as a means of expression, art
and storytelling about the contemporary world. This is not only an artistic space and a chance to meet Lidia Popiel or Nina Patalon, but also a platform open to the public, where jewellery enthusiasts and professionals alike can discover the latest collections, take part in workshops and shop.
At the AMBEREXPO Congress & Exhibition Centre, the Amber Museum, the Oliwa Culture Town Hall, the Gallery of the International Amber Association, and even on the streets of Gdańsk during the Amber Parade, artists, designers, collectors and enthusiasts from around the world will come together to discover how the tradition of amber craftsmanship blends today with modern design and an experimental approach to form.
Gdańsk Jewellery Week is an experience that will combine history with modernity.

THE CITY THAT LIVES AND BREATHES AMBER
Why Gdańsk? This is where trade routes and goldsmithing artists have met for centuries. Today the city not only nurtures this tradition through the Amber Museum and the activities of the International Amber Association, but also brings it
into a new dimension – through events such as the AMBERIF fair. Gdańsk Jewellery Week is a natural continuation of this tradition, in the form of a festival that combines craftsmanship, modern design and an international perspective on the art of jewellery.
Poland has for years been among the world's largest exporters of amber jewellery,
with the main markets including China, the USA, EU countries and the Middle East.
In this context, Gdańsk is becoming not only a cultural but also a business centre of the jewellery industry – a place where creators, collectors and entrepreneurs meet to build the future of amber on world markets.
KEY EVENTS OF GDAŃSK JEWELLERY WEEK 2025
The organisers of Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2025 have prepared an intensive programme in which art meets craft, and tradition meets modernity. It is a space where jewellery lovers, artists, designers and collectors have the opportunity to experience exceptional exhibitions, workshops and meetings, drawing inspiration from the rich history of amber and contemporary design.
One of the key highlights of the event will be the largest jewellery and amber fair in this part of Europe – AMBERIF, to be held on 4–6 September at AMBEREXPO. The fair will be open to the public, so everyone will be able to go shopping – including in search of unique gifts. Hundreds of exhibitors and designers from around the world will present their latest collections.
The AMBERIF fair is also a space for meetings and inspiration. On 4 September, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, there will be a conversation with Nina Patalon, selector of the Polish women's national football team, whose passion and determination symbolically connect with the strength of amber.
Meanwhile, on 6 September at 12:00 pm, the AMBERIF stage will welcome Lidia Popiel – photographer, model and Amber Ambassador. The meeting will be devoted to topics close to women, such as naturalness, style, maturity and the authentic expression of one's own individuality, with amber serving as a starting point for a conversation about closeness to nature and a conscious approach to life.
There will also be plenty of interactive experiences. On 5 September at 12:00 pm, there will be an attempt to break the Polish record for amber polishing, during which fair visitors will be able to polish a stone themselves and take it home.
On 6 September, as part of the AMBERIF fair, there will also be the Space for Creating Beauty workshops, during which participants will create their own unique piece of jewellery full of meaning, emotion and energy. The workshops will be led by Patrycja Brendler, a Tricity artist and creator of her own jewellery brand. The workshops are open to both women and men, regardless of experience, but require prior registration and an additional fee. Details can be found at: patrycjabrendler.pl.
For those interested in consciously building their image, there will be image workshops (online registration required at gdanskjewelleryweek.pl) and consultations led by Katarzyna Kobiela, a stylist and expert in dress code and business etiquette. The stylist will help select jewellery and wardrobe elements matched to style, beauty type and occasion.
The AMBEREXPO halls will also host exhibitions showcasing the diversity of contemporary artistic jewellery and amber-working tradition. Among them will be SCHMUCK – the legendary exhibition from Munich, which sets global trends, and a retrospective exhibition of Andrzej Boss, covering more than 40 years of work by the artist and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.
In the Art Zone, visitors will also be able to see the exhibition Turning Point, which presents works by artists from, among others, the Netherlands, Japan, the USA, South Korea, Australia and Germany, depicting pivotal moments in a person's life – moments that change everything.
"The concept of the 'Turning Point' concerns moments that change everything in our lives; they are like an earthquake turning our emotions and world upside down. (…) This exhibition shows that contemporary artistic jewellery is alive and has enormous power to communicate meaning," says Ruudt Peters, curator of the exhibition.
AMBERIF will also host the exhibition Amber Craftsmanship, presenting works awarded in the Karol Kowalski National Goldsmiths' and Jewellers' Competition. The exhibition comprises around 100 works, including those by Waldemar Sawa, Grzegorz Tryjefaczka, Dominika Gawlak-Długosz, Maciej Łobocki, Jakub Śliwowski as well as students from art schools in Katowice and Częstochowa. The exhibition shows how amber-working tradition combines with modern design.
During the AMBERIF fair, participants will have a unique opportunity to take part
in craft workshops led by Dorota Cenecka – a renowned jewellery designer and master of goldsmithing and amber-working. It is well worth visiting the Gin Atelier stand at AMBEREXPO to discover for yourself the secrets of working with amber.
The craft experiences are complemented by AMBER WORKSHOPS with Giedymin Jabłoński as well as the intimate workshops Amber Head Reset with with Robert Pytlos, during which participants will create their own jewellery and learn about the properties of amber.
An experimental approach to amber will be presented in the exhibition Spoiler Alert 2026
at the Amber Museum (4–7 September), presenting works by young creators from the Experimental Design Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk under the supervision of Professor Sławomir Fijałkowski.
History enthusiasts will also be able to see the exhibition Amber Games Through the Ages
also at the Amber Museum, presenting, among other things, the chessboard of King Sigismund III Vasa and game sets from 1611.
Among the artistic events, there will also be the ADA 2025: Relations exhibition
in at the Oliwa Culture Town Hall. These are 29 projects selected from a record number of 365 entries from 34 countries as part of the AMBERIF DESIGN AWARD competition.
The opening of the monographic exhibition by the German artist Julia Groos, From Cosmic Origins to Human Choices, will take place on 5 September at 7:00 pm at the Gallery of the International Amber Association. Visitors will take part in a journey from the Milky Way to the present day, combining Baltic amber with reflection on human responsibility for the future of the planet.
The finale of Gdańsk Jewellery Week 2025 will be crowned by the Amber Parade in the heart of Gdańsk – Sunday, 7 September at 12:00 pm. The procession will set off from the Green Gate, led by dancers, stilt-walkers, musicians and models presenting original jewellery inspired by amber. It will be accompanied by the sounds of a marching band, setting the pace of the procession along Długi Targ, Tkacka and Kołodziejska streets, all the way to the Amber Museum.
Anyone can take part in the Amber Parade, who wants to join the organisers in celebrating Gdańsk's amber tradition and artistic identity.
