A festival worth top marks! The Employment Office once again encourages seniors to stay active
This year, for the fifth time, seniors from Gdańsk and neighbouring districts will be able to look for attractive work, take care of their health, take a look at technological innovations dedicated to older people, and meet stars known from television. There are plenty more reasons, however, to visit AMBEREXPO on 19 October, where the Senior Work and Activity Festival will take place! The event, organised by the Gdańsk Employment Office, will begin at 10:00, admission free.
October is traditionally the month when seniors can count on an especially large number of attractions. Among them, the Senior Work and Activity Festival holds a special place. Organised by the Gdańsk Employment Office, the event has been held at AMBEREXPO for five years and supports people over 50 in pursuing activity in the broadest sense – professional, social and cultural alike. This year, nearly 200 companies, institutions and non-governmental organisations will present their offers for seniors.
This year, employers seeking senior workers include Copernicus Podmiot Leczniczy, Gdańskie Autobusy i Tramwaje, Lidl, Lotos Kolej, Poczta Polska, Atlanta Poland and Auchan Polska, among others. Employers will be recruiting for various positions, and there will certainly be no shortage of interesting offers for those interested in taking up employment in roles such as: security guard, cashier, sales assistant, electrician, mechanic, locksmith, helpline consultant, restaurant worker, kitchen assistant, cleaner and maintenance worker. Complementing the Job Zone will be the so-called Recruitment Avenue, a place where everyone can meet experienced advisers and labour market experts, who will help seniors, among other things, to prepare an effective CV and get ready for a job interview.
A healthy body…
To stay active in retirement, you certainly need to look after your own health. Dozens of exhibitors in the Healthy Lifestyle Zone will help with that. This year's offer is exceptionally attractive. At the Festival, visitors will be able to have, among other things, a blood test, an ECG, or an examination in one of the specialist medical diagnostic vehicles – a cardio bus, mammo bus, hearing bus, osteo bus, eye bus, cataract bus and derma bus. Specialists will also be on hand for seniors – a psychologist, sexologist, dietitian, pharmacist, diabetologist, physiotherapist, masseur and optician. Tips from paramedics on how to give first aid in emergency situations will certainly also be worth attention.
In good style and a modern spirit
The Festival's offer has always been "on trend". This time will be no different. For professional fashion shows, skincare and beauty treatments, we invite all seniors to the Fashion and Beauty Zone. Here, everyone will be able to undergo a spectacular transformation under the guidance of experts, including a full make-up session and hairdressing care. Ladies in particular will be pleased to hear about the chance to try face and body care cosmetics and take part in beauty or sewing workshops. There will also be no shortage of spectacular shows – Jan Adamski and Iwona Ziemiańska will talk about what's on trend in senior fashion this year, while Dawid Gąsiorowski, a well-known Tri-City barber, will demonstrate his outstanding hairdressing skills.
At AMBEREXPO, technology enthusiasts will also find something for themselves. In the New Technologies Zone, visitors will be able to take a close look at the latest household appliances, try an electric bike or scooter, and learn all about e-banking, safe internet use and mobile apps. An extraordinary journey through time awaits in the modern Iskra Niepodległej bus. The multimedia presentation describes, in an engaging and inspiring way, outstanding Polish men and women who changed the world!
Expert advice
In the Safety, Information and Volunteering Zone, experts will offer advice on inheritance law and retirement. Among the exhibitors will also be Police and Municipal Guard officers, who will explain how to guard against scams. Staff from the National Health Fund will discuss the rules for using primary healthcare services and talk about interesting mobile apps developed by the NHF. Meanwhile, matters relating to finances can be discussed with representatives of the National Revenue Administration, whose staff will talk about the PIT/0 tax relief for seniors.
Top-notch entertainment
The cultural offering will also be attractive. The schedule of upcoming events will be presented by, among others, the Baltic Opera and the Wybrzeże Theatre, while the Voivodeship and Municipal Public Library will showcase its most interesting books. Guests' attention will certainly also be drawn to workshops for seniors (ribbon embroidery, brush lettering and crafts) and dance classes prepared by the 50+ Dance School. The zone will be buzzing with activity. A spectacular live cooking show will be organised by the head chef of the Amici restaurant – Tomasz Szaraczyński, and grill enthusiasts will be treated to dishes from the barbecue.
Great entertainment will be provided by stars known from the silver screen. Special guest Artur Barciś will encourage staying active in retirement, while Izabela Trojanowska and Zbigniew Zaranek, winner of the 4th series of the popular show The Voice Senior, will provide the musical accompaniment for the event.
The Senior Work and Activity Festival will take place on 19 October 2023 at AMBEREXPO. The event will start at 10:00 and run until 15:30. The Festival is organised by the Gdańsk Employment Office, with the Gdańsk Economic Development Agency as strategic partner.
