„History speaks through generations" – under this slogan, the Pomeranian National Remembrance Congress will be held on 20–21 November 2024 at AMBEREXPO in Gdańsk, organised by the Gdańsk branch of the Institute of National Remembrance.
The past can and should be told in a modern way. The Congress will respond to the findings of the "Education for Remembrance" study, commissioned by the Institute of National Remembrance and carried out by a team led by Dr Hab. Krzysztof Malicki.
The Pomeranian National Remembrance Congress is the first event of its kind in our region, inviting visitors to an education and new-technology zone, historical debates, multimedia exhibitions, film screenings, workshops and many other attractions. We will tell our history, with particular emphasis on its local dimension. We will discuss the dramatic years of the Second World War and the experience of occupation and the incorporation of our lands into the borders of the Third German Reich. We will recall the post-war years and communist oppression, the heroism of workers during December 1970, and present the struggles of Pomeranians on the road to 1989. All these steps will lead us to commemorating the people of "Solidarity".
The Pomeranian National Remembrance Congress will tell the story of Poland's recent history in a way that speaks to every generation: both older people, who remember the difficult 20th century well, and young people, who learn through new technology, multimedia and play. We warmly invite you to join us!
The website pomorskikongresipn.pl will soon be launched, where you will be able to register for selected events, all of which are free to attend.
We welcome both organised groups and individual visitors.
