On Saturday, 23 March, the market in the Piecki-Migowo district will resume operation. Launched last September, the project proved hugely popular, hence the decision to continue it. What's more, a similar market will also appear at an additional location in the Orunia Górna-Gdańsk Południe district. The joint initiative of the City of Gdańsk and Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie aims to enable as many Gdańsk residents as possible to buy fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as products from local and regional farmers.
Stalls with products from nearby farms will be set up at the square at the junction of ul. Bulońska and ul. Rakoczego, as well as in the car park of the Łostowice Świętokrzyska bus and tram loop, by the ZTM Customer Service Point. They will operate every Saturday from 23 March to 29 June and from 31 August to 26 October, between 9:00 and 13:00. The Piecki-Migowo Market will be accompanied by the popular Flea Market, organised by the Piecki-Migowo District Council. Organisers now warmly invite everyone – from children to seniors – to take part in this event.
– Neighbourhood markets are not only a place where residents can conveniently buy healthy and organic products. This initiative is also valuable because it activates and integrates the local community, emphasises Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdańsk. – On the other hand, it's an example of activities that fit perfectly with the European Commission's "Farm to Fork" strategy. By implementing the idea of shortening the food supply chain, they give Gdańsk residents the opportunity to buy directly from the farmer-producer, allowing them to receive fresh goods with a guarantee of quality and authenticity.
Alongside the markets, trade in agricultural or food products and handicrafts made by farmers and their household members takes place in an area designated by the municipality on ul. Gościnna in the Orunia-Św. Wojciech-Lipce district. Here, residents can shop on Fridays and Saturdays between 6:00 and 15:00.
