One of the most important events dedicated to seniors returns under a new name and with new ideas for spending an active retirement. This year, a record number of over 200 exhibitors will take part in the event. There will be plenty of new zones, attractions and stars encouraging engagement in various areas. The Job and Senior Activity Fair will take place on 17 October at AMBEREXPO, starting at 10:00. Admission is free.
For five years, the Job and Senior Activity Festival has successfully encouraged mature residents of the Tricity to lead an active lifestyle. From this year, the event takes on a new name – the Job and Senior Activity Fair, but its mission remains unchanged. However, that's not the end of the novelties. This year's edition offers even more attractions, a record number of exhibitors and new zones, the most important of which will be devoted to employment issues.
A job in retirement
In the Job Zone a total of 40 exhibitors seeking future employees will take their seats. Employers will include, among others: Ergo Hestia, Lidl, Selgros, Avon, Majaland, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways and Atlanta Poland. They will offer more than 600 job openings with varying working hours. There will be no shortage of vacancies for electricians, plumbers, customer carers, teachers, drivers, medical registrars, customer service specialists, cosmetics testers, gardeners and shop assistants. Closely linked to this zone will also be the first of this year's novelties.
Work out an idea for yourself
In the In the Personal Development Zone it will be possible, among other things, to talk about career prospects with a careers adviser, have a CV photo taken, and have your application documents reviewed before meeting an employer. Workshops and professional training courses will also be available here, along with a rich offer of language courses and advice on staying safe online. The Talent Development Centre has also prepared a special offer, inviting seniors to, among other things, exercises that develop cognitive functions.
Look after your health to stay active
It's worth looking after your health at any age. This applies especially to seniors, who will find a rich exhibition offer at the fair. It will include, among other things, the opportunity to meet specialists in the fields of dietetics, physiotherapy, dentistry, speech therapy and diabetology. In the Health Zone there will also be free check-ups available in medical buses, including a mammography bus, cataract-screening bus, hearing-test bus, cardio bus and many others. An important addition to the offer will be psychological and legal advice from specialists at the Municipal Family Support Centre in Gdańsk. At the MOPR information point, older people will learn about available financial, food and material support, as well as care services and activation projects. Meanwhile, Szpitale Pomorskie will offer glucose level and blood pressure tests, provide advice on issues requiring physiotherapy, and give free consultations and psychological advice on seniors' mental health.
Look good, feel good!
You'll also be able to take care of your body in the Fashion and Beauty Zone, where, as always, make-up artists, masseurs, hairdressers and beauticians will be waiting for seniors. The Abacosun Beauty Institute will present a rich range of skincare treatments that will not only improve the appearance of the skin but also contribute to a better sense of wellbeing. In addition, experienced beauticians will advise on how to take care of your beauty every day, taking individual needs and lifestyle into account. There will also be something for the gentlemen. Buongiorno Barber Shop will offer a full range of barbering services, including fashionable cuts tailored to each man's individual facial features and image. Perfume Craft, meanwhile, will present unique fragrance compositions inspired by nature and plants.
Difficult matters? With us you'll solve every problem
Here experts will provide advice on inheritance law and the retirement process. Among the exhibitors in the Useful Information Zone there will also be Police and Municipal Guard officers, who will explain how to protect yourself against fraud. National Health Fund staff will discuss the rules for using primary healthcare services and will also encourage the use of the NFZ apps: Akademia NFZ and Moje Fizjo Plus.
Movement at any age
The second of this year's novelties is the ideal place for those who wish not only to improve their physical fitness but also to discover new, inspiring forms of movement. In the Activity Zone everyone will have a unique opportunity to try a variety of activities held on the dance floor, which will help them stay in shape and gain more energy. Visitors will be able to watch a country dance show up close, as well as take part in Zumba Gold. Competition lovers will certainly be pleased with the chance to play chess and table tennis. Meanwhile, for the sake of a healthy spine, medical trainer Krystyna Dwórznik will lead specialist sessions focusing on posture correction and muscle strengthening. These will help minimise pain and maintain correct posture.
Rest actively!
The last of the zones will be devoted to relaxation and entertainment. The Baltic Opera and the Wybrzeże Theatre will present the schedule of upcoming events, while the Voivodeship and Municipal Public Library will showcase its most interesting books. In the Leisure Zone guests will certainly be drawn to an exhibition of paintings presented by the Blik Gallery, while water-painting workshops, linocut, art and macramé-weaving workshops will surely spark the imagination of every senior. History enthusiasts can look forward to the Storytellers, who will share both well-known and lesser-known history of Gdańsk together with seniors. When visiting the zone, don't forget the photo booth, where everyone will be able to take a souvenir photo. Participants will also have the chance to enjoy a rich food offer, including dishes from an autumn barbecue, among others.
Well-known figures from the Polish entertainment scene will also encourage people to stay active. Jerzy Kryszak, a highly regarded cabaret artist, will share his reflections, in his own inimitable way, on the role of seniors in the workplace, highlighting their strength and value in the professional environment. Joining in a cooking session will be Pascal Brodnicki, who, in a dynamic culinary show, will provide not only entertainment but also practical tips. Musical emotions, meanwhile, will be guaranteed by Regina Rosłaniec Bavcevic, the winner of the fifth series of "The Voice Senior". Her arrangements of well-known and beloved songs will create a unique atmosphere. The fair's grand finale, however, will belong to a star of the Polish stage – Halina Frąckowiak, who will perform her most popular hits live.
The Job and Senior Activity Fair will take place on 17 October 2024 at AMBEREXPO. The event will start at 10:00 and run until 16:00.
The event is organised by the Gdańsk Labour Office, with the Gdańsk Economic Development Agency as its strategic partner. Honorary patronage over the Fair is held by: the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, the Minister for Seniors, the Minister for Civil Society and the Voivode of Pomerania.
