EuroSkills 2023 at AMBEREXPO!
On 16 June, during the WorldSkills Europe General Assembly meeting in Kraków, the host city for EuroSkills 2023 was announced – the City of Gdańsk. EuroSkills is an international competition that has been held seven times to date. Next year, Poland will host the event for the first time. In Gdańsk, more than 600 of the best competitors from 31 countries will compete across 50 disciplines.
EuroSkills is an international vocational skills competition that has been held across Europe since 2008. Poland has, for the first time, earned the honour of hosting this exceptional competition, commonly referred to as the "Olympic Games of vocational skills".
This, the biggest event in the history of vocational education in Poland, will take place in September 2023 at the AMBEREXPO Exhibition and Congress Centre (ul. Żaglowa 11, Gdańsk). Gdańsk is also hosting this year's nationwide SkillsPoland 2022 competition (23–25 November), which serves as the qualifying round for Polish representatives heading to EuroSkills 2023.
At EuroSkills, competitors will contest more than 50 disciplines across 6 areas: information and communication technology, manufacturing and engineering, construction technology, transport and logistics, social and personal services, and arts and fashion.
As a reminder, Polish competitors took part in the two previous editions of EuroSkills
in Budapest (2018) and Graz (2021), winning a combined total of 3 medals in the cooking, floristry and welding disciplines.
Around 600 competitors and 500 outstanding experts from 31 countries will take part in next year's event, across competition arenas covering a total area of 60,000 square metres. We estimate that EuroSkills 2023 will draw more than 100,000 spectators from Poland
and abroad.
The main aims that have driven the WorldSkills idea for more than 70 years are raising vocational qualifications, exchanging good practice, and building the image of vocational education. The competitions are accompanied by various shows, performances and conferences, and representatives of leading companies from around the world travel to the venue to seek potential employees and managers.
EuroSkills 2023 is co-organised by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, WorldSkills Poland, SkillsPoland Sp. z o.o., the City of Gdańsk, the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, and AmberExpo.
