The festive atmosphere in Gdańsk is drawing to a close, and all the light decorations will therefore be taken down. We thank all participants and visitors to Gdańsk during this festive period for creating such a wonderful atmosphere. Thanks to the beautiful illuminations placed at various locations across the city, we helped create a beautiful and unforgettable ambience.
We would like to remind you that Gdańsk came 2nd place in the competition for the best Christmas Market in Europe. The illuminations during this festive event undoubtedly had an impact on the result achieved.
Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie prepared decorations at nine locations. In Kuźniczki Park in Wrzeszcz, visitors could see a light-up gazebo, a drummer, lamp-post decorations and a “Merry Christmas” sign. On the Green Bridge stood a light-up tram, and on the Stągiewny Bridge an illuminated bus. In Oliwa Park visitors could see a magical curtain of lights, 3D sailing boats and a 3D royal peacock.
In John Paul II Park in Zaspa, an aeroplane and other smaller decorations on an aviation theme appeared. In Oruński Park, a gazebo was illuminated, along with a 3D swan and an illuminated giant present. By Heweliusz Square in the Old Town stood Hevelius's telescopes and seating, along with amber baubles on the lamp posts in the immediate vicinity of the Amber Museum. On Kobzdej Square in the Main City, illuminations referencing former townspeople appeared, such as the Lady, the Gdańsk Boy, the Court Couple and the Gdańsk Couple. A garland was hung on the pergola. Illuminations also appeared along the promenade leading to the pier in Brzeźno, in the form of three cranes, including one holding a present, and an anchor.
The Christmas Market was also decorated with festive lights, such as snowflake gates and a sky of lights on ul. Bogusławskiego. A Forest Gazebo stood in Targ Węglowy, and photo points with angel wings were set up on ul. Tkacka.
