Once again, Gdańsk will take part in the worldwide Earth Hour campaign. Its aim is to raise awareness that we should live in an environmentally friendly way and to reawaken respect for the Earth's natural resources. On Saturday, 26 March, the lights will go out for an hour at AMBEREXPO and selected municipal buildings.
Every year, more than 170 countries take part in Earth Hour. Gdańsk has been invited to join dozens of cities in Poland and around the world in switching off the lights of landmark buildings and public facilities.
This year, WWF's Earth Hour falls on 26 March at 8.30 p.m., when, for 60 minutes, lights will be switched off as a symbolic gesture of care for the planet. This is the 15th edition of the campaign in Poland, and the 16th worldwide. This year, as an expression of solidarity with Ukraine, the hour of darkness is also meant as a call for peace and care for people and the whole planet.
As part of this year's campaign, lighting will be switched off for an hour at AMBEREXPO and the following facilities and buildings
- Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre
- at the buildings of the Municipal Family Support Centre
- GPEC – office building at ul. Biała 1
