The first edition of the Temporary Hospital in Gdańsk, set up under a decision of the Minister of Health, began on 8 March at AMBEREXPO and ended its operations at the end of June 2021.
The facility was prepared for 400 places for patients infected with coronavirus and was dedicated to the residents of Pomerania. Grupa LOTOS SA, as the project's investor, in cooperation with Międzynarodowe Targi Gdańskie SA and COPERNICUS PL Sp. z o.o., adapted the building to serve as crisis infrastructure, which enabled hospital operations to begin. Equipping the facility was the responsibility of the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves and Grupa LOTOS, in coordination with the Ministry of State Assets.
Over its 4-month period, the hospital admitted 808 patients, including 90 patients who stayed in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit. The average patient stay was 11 days. Throughout the period the Temporary Hospital operated, patient care was provided by 123 doctors, 233 nurses, 85 paramedics, 10 X-ray technicians/electroradiology technicians, 10 receptionists, and 200 orderlies (from an external company – the Fundacja Wodna Służba Ratownicza).
A COVID-19 Vaccination Point was also set up alongside the Temporary Hospital, which vaccinated almost 135,000 people.
The second edition of the Temporary Hospital ran from 17 January 2022 to the end of March 2022.
During this time, more than 500 patients were admitted. The role of investor was taken on by the Pomeranian Voivode, in coordination with the Ministry of Health.
