As it does every year, the City of Gdańsk awarded honours and prizes to its most outstanding athletes and coaches. This year, close to 60 sportswomen, sportsmen and coaches representing various sporting disciplines were honoured. The most awards went to representatives of the women's rugby club Biało-Zielone Ladies Gdańsk.
– This gala is for you, the people of sport. Today we celebrate and honour sport in Gdańsk and Pomerania – said Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdańsk, during the opening gala.
– Dear athletes, we want to thank you above all for the fact that, thanks to you, Gdańsk stands out for its major events. As accomplished sportspeople, you are an example to those who don't take part in sport professionally. I appreciate how physical effort can change the comfort of our lives. You are icons for those who want to live healthily. And as you know, we're already looking forward to the next major sporting events in Gdańsk – added the Mayor.
Around 60 athletes, as well as coaches, received awards in the following categories:

The Gdańsk Sports Gala took place at the headquarters of the International Fair Gdańsk.
